“On Thursday, Feb. 5, NASCAR will have its 10th annual Media Day, an opportunity for media members to gather stories on the sport’s drivers and newsmakers.
Approximately 300 members of television, radio, internet and print media will attend the event held just outside Daytona International Speedway. More than 50 drivers across NASCAR’s three national series – the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – will be available for interviews during the day-long event.
The event runs from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
ESPN, SPEED, SIRIUS XM Radio and NASCAR.com will broadcast live throughout the day.

Event Overview:
- SITE: Daytona Club Tent.
- TIME: 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Media workspace is available until 4 p.m.
- MEDIA ATTENDEES: Primarily media members attending Speedweeks, however many non-traditional outlets attend Media Day to gather materials for the duration of Speedweeks.
- LIVE COVERAGE: ESPN, SPEED, SIRIUS XM Radio and NASCAR.com will be inside the tent and will be doing live hits throughout the day.
- GOAL: Provide interview opportunities with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers.
Designated Media Areas:
- PRINT: The print area consists of nine trade show style booths that are exclusive to the print media. Drivers will be scheduled for 20-minute sessions in this area. Additionally, there will be three driver booths equipped with a wireless microphone and speakers to accommodate the large amount of media surrounding select drivers.
- TELEVISION AND RADIO AFFILIATES: The setup will be “red carpet” style in shape and format. Media will be stationed at four to five spots along the carpet, behind stanchions, and will have approximately five minutes with each driver. NASCAR banners will line the carpet and will be used as a backdrop for these interviews.
- GROUP INTERVIEW AREA: The group interview area will be utilized to promote drivers who may not have a large number of interview requests. The area will consist of “high-boy” tables and directors’ chairs and is located directly in front of the media work area. We feel that this location will produce some more informal interviews for those drivers who may have been overlooked in the print area in the past.
- PARTNER AREA: This area features NASCAR broadcast and photo partners. Each row, consisting of two partners, is given 15 minutes to conduct interviews, take photographs or stage specialty shots for broadcast. NASCAR will work to accommodate each partner as best they can, scheduling appointments for specific rows of this area.
