I’ve got so many undigested, partial nascar blog posts backing up in my system I feel like I’ve eaten nothing but cheese for a month.
It’s finally time to add a little ‘whine’ with that cheese and expel it from my system. Stand back. I hear a rumbling of uncompleted rambling, rants and ponderings that have clogged my pipes for too long.
He Ain’t No Pansy
First off, Jeff Burton is NOT a pansy for not moving Kyle Busch at Bristol. Post-race callers on Wind Tunnel blasted him. ESPN “analysts”, Boris Said and Tim Brewer, claimed Burton could not win a Championship. He wasn’t aggressive enough. I love to watch hard, fairly clean racing. I’ve no doubt that were there 10-20 more laps left in that race, Busch would have been feeling the bumper of Burton. Not to say he would have ‘punted’ him, but he would have worked him as elegantly as Jeff Gordon did Jimmie Johnson the following week in Martinsville.
Can I Move Him Boss?
And, speaking of Martinsville, what a great finish. Great emotion afterwards. But, after 10 days of the question of ‘whether the finish would have been different had they not been teammates?’ Enough.
That’s Gonna Leave A Mark
Then there was my thoughts on the Swan Dives that have seemingly turned in to Belly Flops. We expected (or hoped) for good results with all of the following moves:
Ouch. That looks like it hurt.
Nuts About Prepaid Advertising
Reaching back further into the blockage, I find myself thinking after an email conversation with the (usually) insightful USAR Fan Lou predicting that Michael Waltrip will be without a sponsor after 2 more DNQs. That was a bold call. NAPA is so invested in Michael it’s hard to imagine. But, I agree he’s on the edge. (Lou you can redeem yourself by coming up with a snappier paragraph title than I pulled off.)
Jeremy Mayfield? Wouldn’t be surprised to see him without a ride if he misses the Texas race. 360 OTC? Bye bye whoever you are.
AJ Allmendinger? He’s living NASCAR life on the edge. He might be better suited racing with Buckshot Jones. No offense Lou. Sometimes a Cup ride too early is a bad thing.
Maybe The Truck Would Be Faster?
Then there is the disgraceful ending to my favorite drivers illustrious career. Dale Jarrett. Watching a career rust is a sad thing. I asked our commercial UPS account rep what the employee mood was about Dale Jarrett’s performance?
She said her son was a race fan and she would ask him, “How is Dale doing?”
He’d roll his eyes and say, “He’s in the back again mom.”
Ultimately, she said that Dale Jarrett fits their corporate image. I can see and appreciate that. I just hope he is around long enough to see Toyota through their growing pains. He already has his eye on the television broadcasters booth and will be calling an upcoming Busch race.
Whew! I feel better.
I have 2 more posts still laying around.
One is about a marijuana smuggling NASCAR driver from the 1980′s, the other my open letter of apology to Brian France.
Then there is King Carl. Plus, the upcoming race in Texas.
Can I have a little more wine please?”
