Am I the only one that doesn’t like the guy?
Let me ‘splain
I do like him. He’s down-to-earth and unassuming. He takes responsibility for his mistakes. He’s not full of pride because he is, hands down, the most popular driver in NASCAR.
What I dislike is that so many people revere him simply because he is Dale Earnhardt’s son. So, I actually like him secretly, but root against him and delight in his dismal season. Not because of him, but (probably) because of you.
His misery assures me that all the people that love him (so blindly) are miserable too. Does that make sense?
I’m sure most of the Jeff Gordon haters understand just what I mean. (Cause you secretly like him.)
What really gets on my nerves
Every single poll question that involves Dale Earnhardt Jr., he wins. Take Saturday’s race at Richmond for example.

Has Bobby Labonte (a formers Series Champion) not had the most bad-luck ridden miserable season?
Has Kasey Kahne (with his streak of 1001 2nd places in a row) not performed well below what everybody hoped for him this year?
Sure, Dale Jr. had an awesome year in 2004. But, to be picked by such a margin? What are y’all? A bunch of Kool-Aid drinking Earnhardt lemmings?

I see it in poll after poll. You’ve seen it too.
- Can Jr. win Talladega even though he is 15 laps down? YES
- Can Jr. make the Chase even though he is 426 points out of 10th? YES
- Will Jr. win 8 out of the next 4 races? YES
- Who has the best chance to win today’s race? Junior, Junior, Junior
C’mon people. Think with your head. Use some critical judgement and know when to live in the real world.
The tv coverage caters to him as well. Take, for instance, TNT’s ‘Through The Field’. They will skip from 15th to 32nd, just so we can all see how the red #8 is doing. Give me a break. Quit with the idol worship of Junior. Let people, like me, that just like him…like him.
